Manager In Training (MIT): The MIT program is designed to give recent graduates with Bachelor’s Degrees in Hospitality Business Management the opportunity to learn the Red Lion Way of doing business. Candidates will go through the 13 week program at a Red Lion Hotel and experience all departments during the first six weeks. The seventh week is spent at a specified location attending a Leadership Intensive that teaches MIT attendees how to manage the Red Lion way. The final six weeks of the program are spent in one department that will be the focus of the participant. Upon successful completion of the program, the participant have the option of being placed in the MIT property if an opening exists. Otherwise, an entry-level management position will be found within the Red Lion system of hotels.
MIT participants will also be chosen from the current ranks of Red Lion Associates who have demonstrated high potential.
All MIT graduates will be placed in a formal Mentoring program with a successful manager to encourage success within the first year of placement.
Red Lion Internships: Several undergraduate students are invited to spend twelve weeks learning about the operations within a Red Lion property. They will get the chance to experience a little bit about all departments in the hotel. Most internships are directed at Hospitality Business Majors, as well as some opportunities interdepartmentally in the Corporate Office. These internships are held during summer.

Currently the following departments are utilizing online learning: Sales and Catering, Revenue Management, and Human Resources.
The Red Lion Way of Service: All associates participate in a service culture program that includes Monthly Focus meetings discussing service initiatives, as well as Quarterly Service Certification training sessions. After associates have attended Service Certification training sessions for all five Essential Principles of service, they become Certified in Service the Red Lion Way. This service training process is the foundation for all of our training initiatives, performance management processes, and leadership development.
